HEY NAILFRIENDS! Here remedies that can strengthen your nails and prevent them from breaking. There is no proven way to speed up nail growth. However, many remedies can strengthen the nails and prevent them from breaking, giving them the best chance of healthy growth and appearance. 1. Preventing and treating dry skin Moisturizing the hands and nails may help the nails grow faster.Dry skin often means that the nails are also dry. Very dry skin can even crack open and bleed, exposing the nails to fungal and bacterial infections. When the skin surrounding the nail bed or nail matrix is dry, it could damage the nails as they grow. To prevent dry skin, moisturize hands and nails during the winter months and apply lotion after washing hands. People who have eczema should choose eczema-friendly creams that are highly moisturizing. 2. Keeping the nails dry Water can weaken the nails, making them soft and brittle. Always dry the nails thoroughly after swimming or showering. It is a good idea to wear gloves when washing dishes, clothes, and surfaces. This can help them prevent water or cleaning products from sitting on top of the nails. 3. Filing and grooming the nails Keeping the nails filed into a slightly rounded or squared shape can prevent them from snagging and breaking. Good nail grooming may also discourage biting and picking. Snagging, breaking, and biting can all have an impact on nail growth. 4. Avoid harsh polish removers Avoid using acetone polish remover because it can dry and weaken the nails. Steer clear of nail polishes that require its use. However, if acetone is the only option, avoid soaking the nails in acetone. Instead, rub them with the polish remover, then thoroughly wash and moisturize the hands. HEY NAILFRIENDS! Here are 4 ways to fix your nail polish if it's gone thick! 1. Use a nail polish thinner This is actually the best method to solve your nail polish woes and restore its consistency without destroying the product. Usually, many nail polish brands have thinners of their own you can choose from. Use an eyedropper if possible to add a drop or two at a time into the bottle. Screw the nail polish bottle cap back on and rub the bottle between your hands to mix the formula. Avoid shaking the bottle as it creates air bubbles that can affect the consistency. Test the consistency of the polish on your nail. If it’s not quite right to add a drop and try again. However, be careful not to add too much. The polish might get too runny and you won’t be able to re-thicken it again. 2. Mix the polish Gently mixing your nail polish works if the product has thickened just a little bit. Make sure the bottle is sealed and turn it upside down. Then roll it between your hands for a few minutes. This helps to gently warm up the polish and help thin it out. Remember, as we mentioned above, shaking isn’t the way to go as it creates air bubbles that can cause nail polish to chip quickly. It can also cause the product to become thicker, so shake at your own risk. 3. Hot water If rubbing the polish between your hands doesn’t quite do the job and you are out of lacquer thinner, hot water is a great trick. All you have to do is run the bottle under hot water to heat the polish. This will temporarily thin out the formula. The best way to implement this method would be to pour hot water in a bowl and leave the bottle in for about 2 minutes. Next, remove the bottle carefully as it can be very hot, so please handle with caution. You need to then roll the bottle back in forth in your hands to mix the polish inside. 4. Add pure acetone or nail polish remover I would only suggest this as your last resort when you’re trying to use up the last bits before tossing the bottle. Adding a few drops and mixing the bottle will thin your polish but it’s only good for short-term results. While it does work as a quick fix, the acetone will break down the formula and ruin your nail polish. If you’ve got to this stage it’s probably time to wave goodbye to your old nail polish. HEY NAILFRIENDS! Here are foolproof tips on how to take care of your nails! BRUSH YOUR NAILS To further get rid of harmful bacteria, it’s also recommended you scrub your nails and skin with a toothbrush. Doing so will remove and exfoliate any dead skin you might have without the need for harsh scrubs full of chemicals. Tip: Avoid scrubbing your nails roughly as they are delicate and can easily be exposed to infection. TRY A MOISTURISER Unfortunately, regular washing and brushing of hands can lead to dryness of skin and nail bed. If possible, try to use a moisturiser after every wash and make sure to work it deep into your cuticles and nails. Nutrient-rich oils such as coconut oil also work well to bring back the much-needed moisture to your skin. LEAVE YOUR CUTICLES ALONE Do not remove or cut your cuticles as they are important in keeping your nails away from harmful bacteria and possible infections. You are also minimising the risk of having those unwanted hangnails by leaving your cuticles alone. It’s also best not to tear the former as you might rip live tissue along with it. PLACE IMPORTANCE ON NAIL HEALTH OVER LENGTH Even though long, painted nails are absolutely stunning, you should place importance first and foremost on the health of your nails. It’s recommended to keep them short (especially if you suffer from breakage or snags) and focus on strengthening them instead. For an added benefit, shorter nails are easier to manage and look professional and neat overall. HEY NAILFRIENDS! Here are another bunch of interesting nail facts! Fingernails need blood to survive. Have you ever wondered why your fingernail falls off after an injury? Our nail plates need blood flow, nutrients and oxygen to grow normally. An injury can disrupt the delicate connections that provide the nutrition and can stop your fingernail from growing. Fingernails are for protecting not only the fingertips but also the surrounding soft tissue from any external injuries. Our cuticles aren’t just for decoration. They serve a purpose! The cuticle seals moisture and environmental germs out of the body. This is why it’s very important to not pick at your cuticles. Men’s fingernails grow faster than women’s nails. But, women’s fingernails do grow faster during pregnancy due to hormones Nails on a chalkboard make you cringe? There’s a reason. The noise hits a frequency that’s naturally amplified by the shape of our ear canals. By: Desert hand and Physical Therapy| n.d. HEY NAILFRIENDS! Here are another bunch of interesting nail facts! FINGERNAILS NEED BLOOD TO SURVIVE Blood flow is essential for nail health and growth; as this is how nails get their key nutrients. Your fingernails can actually temporarily stop growing when there is an injury preventing them from getting proper blood flow. FINGERNAILS GROW FASTER DURING SUMMER Why? There are a few different theories. One theory is that people absorb more nutrients during the summer; as they are more likely to drink a lot of water on a hot summer day. Another theory is that since sunlight exposure causes your body to make Vitamin D, the increase in Vitamin D results in your nails growing at a faster rate. YOUR HAIR AND NAILS ARE MADE UP OF THE SAME PROTEIN They are both made up of Keratin; however, your nails are much stronger than your hair due to the difference in the arrangement of Keratin molecules: which gives your nails more resilient properties. STRESS CAN AFFECT THE GROWTH OF YOUR NAILS Stress is one factor that will inhibit your nail growth. Don’t worry, however, your nails will grow again. HEY NAILFRIENDS! Here are some facts we bet you didn't know about nails! YOUR DIET AFFECTS THE HEALTH OF YOUR NAILS Eating foods to help your hair shine? Nails and hair are both made out of the protein keratin. Eating healthy foods and vitamins will help strengthen both your hair and nails, while a junk food diet will lead to peeling nails and split ends. EXAMS OR A STRESSFUL JOB CAN AFFECT YOUR NAILS Some people cope with stress by chewing their nails but that’s not the only reason stress could be damaging your nails. Stress and the associated lack of sleep can divert your body’s nutrients and energy away from growing healthy nails and hair. It’s called beauty sleep for a reason! YOUR CUTICLES ARE THERE TO PROTECT YOU Cuticles stop germs and bacteria getting into and damaging your nail bed. Try not to cut your cuticles. Care for them by applying moisturizer and pushing them back to avoid an overgrown look. YOUR NAILS CAN TELL THE STORY OF THE REST OF YOUR HEALTH Believe it or not your nails can give dermatologists clues about the rest of your health, a serious disease could be uncovered by a fingernail examination. Blue discolouration can be a sign of lung cancer while yellow discolouration can be related to a respiratory disease. Indentations across your nail may just be caused by damage, however if they appear for no reason they could indicate zinc deficiency, diabetes or a high fever. Your nails may even be causing the problem, nail problems account for 10% of all skin problems! HEY NAILFRIENDS! Here are the five things that you should remember for healthier and stronger nails. 1. Keep your hands very clean. After you wash your hands, make sure nails are thoroughly grime-free by first removing all traces of polish with an acetone-free remover, which won't dry out nails. Apply soap to a clean toothbrush, then gently scrub nails and surrounding skin to remove dirt and exfoliate any dead skin without harsh, drying chemicals, advises Ava Shamban, M.D., a dermatologist in Los Angeles and author of Heal Your Skin. 2. Be gentle on your nails. Your nails are delicate, so treat them that way. Avoid using metal tools under nails, as too much digging can cause the nail plate to separate from the skin (a condition called onycholysis), common for people over 50, says Dr. Stern. Cleaning with chemicals and washing dishes by hand can also weaken nails. Guard them by wearing rubber, vinyl, nitrile or plastic gloves, says New York City dermatologist Janet Prystowsky, M.D., Ph.D. 3. Read the labels on your polish. Just as with makeup and skincare, not all nail polish brands are created equal, so make sure you're buying or using a good product. Dr. Debbie Palmer urges you to steer clear of polishes containing toxic chemicals like dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde, and toluene, as these toxins can contribute to brittleness, splitting, and cracking. 4. Prioritize nail health over length. Long nails are elegant, but if you're someone who has struggled with hangnails or breakage, Dr. Shamban recommends that you keep your nails short — at least for period of time as you allow them to grow stronger. A shorter style with rounded edges looks neat and tends to be easier to manage, so you won't have to subject your nails to extra wear and tear. As long as each nail is uniform in shape and matches its nine neighbors, you won't miss the added length. 5. Always keep a nail file on hand. If your job or workout routine exposes your nails to potential damage, Dr. Prystowsky advises keeping a nail file handy for on-the-spot buffing of any rough edges. For the smoothest finish, work in one direction with the grain of your nail. Instead of an emory board, which can cause nails to peel and snag, try a glass (also called crystal) nail file. "A glass file will create an even edge to the nail and can be used on the weakest, brittle, and damaged nails," Dr. Stern says. HEY NAILFRIENDS! "There is a huge amount that a well-trained dermatologist can tell about your overall health just by examining nails. From nail bed discoloration (blueish means lung disease), to capillaries in the cuticles (autoimmune disease), to yellow, white, or banded nails, sometimes very serious or even life-threatening disease can be diagnosed just by examining the tips of your fingers," Krant says. "So if you see something wrong or unusual, like a dark brown patch on your cuticle that also has an accompanying brown streak up across the whole nail plate (melanoma), see a dermatologist for help." Vitamin D deficiency is bad for Black Women Sufficient Vitamin D Levels May Improve Outcomes Women with higher vitamin D levels have improved breast cancer survival, according to data presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s annual meeting. Researchers measured vitamin D levels in 3,995 women diagnosed with breast cancer. Compared with those deficient in vitamin D, those with “sufficient” levels (at least 30 ng/mL) were 22% less likely to have died from breast cancer after 10 years. On average, Black women had the lowest vitamin D levels, a finding that appears to have contributed to lower overall survival in this group. Of course, it’s possible that aggressive cancers deplete vitamin D. But this study adds to previous data suggesting that vitamin D may improve cancer outcomes. Either way, it’s prudent to get the recommended 600 IU per day for younger adults and 800 IU for adults over 70. Intakes of 1,500-2,000 IU per day may be needed to reach 30 ng/mL. Do not exceed 4,000 IU per day unless prescribed by a healthcare provide💙 Sign up for breaking nutrition news from the Physicians Committee. It sure seems like CBD has become the new coconut oil. Not just because proponents of each claim miraculous/astounding/"I swear it works" effects in helping with inflammation, but becausethat meme about putting coconut oil on everythingincluding your bank account suddenly seems much more accurate if you swap in CBD. So whenCBD manicuresstarted popping up on the menus of several nail salons, DEMIblue had to conduct some research. Before we get to the details of mani, a little CBD briefer:Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in the cannabis plant, and is closely related to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) — but without the psychoactive qualities you might associate with smoking weed. Although CBD and other hemp-derived oils appear to be just about everywhere these days, the research behind what they're actuallydoingis very, very limited — at least partially becausemost forms of CBD are still considered a schedule 1 drug. In fact, the only FDA-approved usageis for the treatment of rare forms of epilepsy. Charlotte Palermino, journalist and co-founder of the weed-focused siteNice Paper, tells me, "Most doctors and researchers I speak to that are in the world of CBD put it this way: If your source is clean then your tincture won’t harm you. … You just don’t know what’s placebo or actually working, because we have no information on dosing." HOWEVER..... According to Harvard Health, CBD oil has proven to offer many healing properties, such as lowering pain and inflammation, without causing any mind-altering effects. In fact, it is impossible to become “high” from CBD oil because the component that causes intoxication, THC, has been removed. More specifically, CBD has been known to reduce tension, enhance relaxation, target temporary discomfort, and balance your emotions. It is also an amazing moisturizer! Due to the research and success stories we read, we decided to consider incorporating this perfectly safe and legal product in some of our services. STAY TUNED!!

KERATIN IS KEY! What is Keratin Keratin is the protein that makes up hair and nails. The strength of your hair and nails reflects the amount of Keratin in them: low amounts of Keratin can lead to breakage of the hair strand and brittle nails. Keratin is the key structural protein that makes up hair, nails, and the outer layer of skin. The build-up of Keratin is what creates a strong structural hair strand that builds endurance to heat damage, color damage, and hair breakage. The build-up of Keratin on hair strands promotes hair growth by creating stronger, longer, and fuller hair. Keratin is the key ingredient to nail health and reaching nail goals. The build-up of Keratin in nails is seen in longer nails that surpass the nail bed and nail strength that creates endurance to everyday wear and tear. How to build keratin for nails and hair: Keratin can be built from the inside out and outside in. Consuming a hair growth vitamin designed to provide the body with the ideal nutrition to support the development of Keratin is the most effective way of promoting nutrition from the inside out. To promote Keratin in nails you may nourish from the outside in with a nail treatment such as DemiBlue Deep Nutrition Nail Treatment that is formulated to build up Keratin in nails to create stronger, healthier nails.
