Each of your nails grows at a different rate -- your toenails grow slower than your fingernails, for instance, and the nails on your middle fingers typically faster than the others. On average, your nails grow about 0.004 inches (0.1 millimeters) each day.
TIP FOR HEALTHIER NAILS:
For healthy fingernails, pamper them daily with a gentle buffing or a massage. This increases circulation to the nails, keeping them from cracking and peeling. Using cuticle oils containing natural oils throughout the day will keep them moisturized and also promote nail strength. Wear gloves when washing dishes or cleaning to prevent nails from becoming brittle, and don't use nail polish remover that contains formaldehyde or acetone, both of which are drying.
